WHO AND WHY?
WHO AM I?
An ecologist since the 1970s, I arrived in Brazil with the Amazon rainforest in mind. I finally discovered in the Atlantic Rainforest, one of the most threatened forests on the planet, where I decided to acquire a small piece of land. Thus, I have preserved 40 hectares of forest for over 30 years, resulting in a sample of the best preserved in the region.
In the mid-90s I graduated in tropical agroecology in France, in an NGO chaired by Pierre Rabhi, a farmer, ecologist, philosopher, writer and a great humanist I had the chance to meet.
Subsequently, I worked in the socio-environmental area, in Bahia, where I participated in the foundation of the NGO Flora Brasil, which developed several projects in southern Bahia and still exists today, having celebrated its 20 years in 2017. For this performance in the Porto Seguro region, I I also participated in the founding of the Regional Tourism Council of which I was the first executive secretary between 1998 and 2000.
At the turn of the century I underwent a professional retraining and became a translator (French-Portuguese), a profession I have worked in for over 15 years. Nowadays, with my work allowing me some mobility, I travel more frequently between Brazil and France. However, my concern for the environmental issue remains intact and is one of the reasons that led me to prepare this proposal.
WHY SELL A PARADISE?
Sometimes, in life, the most prosaic reasons underpin the greatest decisions. This is the case here.
We explain these reasons by answering the following two questions.
WHY THIS SALE?
We are a Franco-Brazilian couple who is in their 60s. We acquired this property over thirty years ago with, at the time, a life project that would use that space as a support.
Life's mishaps took us to other horizons and the project was postponed until a 'after' that never arrived.
Today, we decided to sell because our paths have separated.
WHY THIS PROPOSAL?
Despite the time that has passed, the potential of the place has reaffirmed itself, at the same time that it has evolved according to the reality of the moment. On the other hand, the way I look at this region and this property has also evolved and matured with new learning and concepts of life, human relations and the future of our humanity.
One of those learnings was my participation in a virtual course at the university of the “Colibris” movement, founded by Pierre Rabhi, a course called “Conceive an Oasis”, which supported several aspects of this proposal.
It is thus, in the light of these diverse developments, that this collective and collaborative project was designed, of which, as the case may be, I will remain an active participant.
